So
how seriously can
you take Dhanush?
Not quite seriously
at all. His career
graph shows that
he has a unique
talent in delivering
real-life-relatable
comedy. Thiruvilayadal
Aarambham and Polladhavan
are the successful
proofs. He returns
with Padikathavan,
an out and out comic
caper, vouched by
him and director
Suraj. And if you
want more, Padikathavan
has Vivek, whose
role, according
to the director,
is serious but the
entire characterization
comic. |
|
Padikathavan
has all the
elements of
a potboiler
– love
at first sight
with a rich
girl challenged
by parents,
family sentiment,
duets and
gravity defying
stunts. Suraj
has a reputation
in delivering
laugh riot
entertainers
(his earlier
films Marudamalai
and Thalainagaram
were best
known for
their comedy
track than
anything else).
Padikathavan
also boasts
of being the
highest budget
movie in Dhanush's
career. Made
at a break
neck speed,
the movie
was over in
110 days.
Highlights
of the shoots
being: the
village festivities
that are shot
in a grandeur
set laid out
in 15 acres
of land complete
with 350 shops
and junior
artistes,
numbering
hundreds,
from the surrounding
villages brought
in using 50
trucks. Sources
who have had
a sneak peek
of the movie
swear that
the fight
scenes are
top notch.
The crew also
visited the
snow capped
mountains
of Switzerland
for a dance
number. Mani
Sharma, after
a short gap,
has scored
for Padikathavan
the audio
of which was
released a
couple of
days ago.

Dhanush is paired
up with the charming
Punjabi lass Tamannah
who made a few jaws
drop with her fluency
in Tamil at the
audio release event.
Now we really do
not know if Suraj
has made her dub
for the movie, but
we have a sneaky
suspicion he has.
So Dhanush's Padikathavan
shows all the potential
of a humble hit,
same way Polladhavan
pulled it off for
Diwali years ago.
Produced by Vijaya
productions, Padikathavan's
distribution rights
are owned by SUN
Pictures.
