Podaa Podi, directed by debutant Vignesh Shivan had been in the making for a very long time. The team very recently wrapped up their shoot in Mumbai and announced that the film would be a Diwali release.

Sarath Kumar’s daughter Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar is making her debut as a heroine and Shobana, Ganesh, Meena Latchman and Nick Thomas-Webster are playing supporting roles. Samarth, Simbu’s nephew is also playing a character in the film. Santhanam and Premji will also be seen in guest roles in the film.

The film is expected to be a romantic-musical, with Varalaxmi playing a Salsa dancer. The songs composed by Dharan for the film are already topping the charts.

A major portion of the film was shot in London, with Duncan Telford behind the lens. Anthony has edited the film and Gemini Film Circuit holds the distribution rights.
