This seems to be the season of romantic films. First it was Engeyum Kaadhal and now we have another romance – Kanden – knocking on our doors. Will Kanden turn out to be an indie gem or just another flash in the pan will be decided by the end of this week.
On the upside, the promos look good and going by director Mugil’s claims, Kanden will appeal to people who are in love. Which is not much to say, because that means everybody will like it. All of us are, in one way or another, in love with something or someone. Another thing about Kanden that recently made news was the fact that Gautham Menon bought the audio rights of the movie after apparently having been impressed by the songs. Gautham also chose Kanden to launch his record label and released the CD of the movie.
Kanden’s soundtrack has as much as 7 numbers and is composed by Vijay Ebenezer, who is a noted devotional musician. Chinmayi, Suchitra, Krish, Devan and Rahul have rendered voices for the songs.
Kanden has Shanthnoo Bhagyaraj (who after numerological name change will hope for a hit), Rashmi Gautham and Santhanam in lead roles. The Santhanam quotient is expected to provide the movie a good boost in the comedy department.
Kanden, produced by TCS, is releasing this weekend.
