Real life incidents have always been inspirations for directors. Thenkasi Pakkathile’s director Antony is no different from this. His Thenkasi Pakkathile is based on a real life incident, occurred in the year 1972. This is a period film, according to the director which is set against a village backdrop.
Antony’s earlier credits include Sannasi and Naalai Namade. He acted-directed Sannasi while he wrote dialogues for director Vinayan’s Naalai Namade. Thenkasi Pakkathile emphasizes on the fact that mistakes need to be punished, no matter whoever commits them. This is also a love story and the director tells us that lust and love are inseparable.
Lust is omnipresent and marks the beginning of love, according to Antony. While you and I might differ in his sense of perception about love and lust, Thenkasi Pakkathile has a certain curious ring to it. It definitely induces curiosity among the viewers and we hope Antony will be able to sustain it throughout the movie’s running time. Antony further elaborates that the movie is about the story of a woman who takes the extreme step to protect the dignity of her family.
An out and out village story, Thenkasi Pakkathile has debutant actors Subash, Vishnudev, Asmitha and Amuda playing significant roles – all of whom the director vouches have played their roles perfectly. Thenkasi Pakkathile is produced by P L Pradeep and will hit the theatres this weekend.
