Nothing succeeds like success. That is how
Maanja Velu happened. After the success
of Malai Malai, there seemed to be no second
thoughts about whether the same team should
get together again. So, A.Venkatesh once
again directed Arun Vijay in a film produced
by Feather Touch Entertainment and things
are much bigger this time round.
Last time, Arun Vijay was in the company
of stalwarts like Prabhu and Prakash Raj.
This time too Prabhu is part of the package.
The new addition is Karthik who is hot on
his comeback trail. With films like Raavanan
happening, there seems to be nothing stopping
this actor who has had many years in the
wilderness now.
Maanja Velu, a remake of the 2007 Telugu
super hit Lakshyam starring Gopichand, Anushka
and Jagapathi Babu, tells the story of a
family and the troubles it faces because
of one of them being a righteous police

many people the wrong way and when those people are
hard core criminals, they choose the most heinous ways
to take revenge. The story is a mixture of all that
makes a good entertainer- family, sentiments, drama,
action and comedy.
Arun Vijay plays Velu in the film with Karthik playing
his elder brother. The actor looks young and fresh,
that might be perhaps we are seeing him on screen after
a long time. Dhansika plays the female lead in Maanja
Velu. Riyaz Khan is also part of the cast. Ganja Karuppu
and Santhanam are there to provide the comic relief.
Mani Sharma has scored the music for Maanja Velu.
Maanja Velu will be a sustainability test for Arun Vijay
who has had his first commercial success in a long time
with Malai Malai. It will also be a touchstone for the
director-actor team which is looking to deliver the
second hit on the trot. The film will be keenly followed
for a variety of reasons; one being the bald look that
Arun Vijay has sported for a portion of the film and
more importantly because of the return of one of the
most loved romantic heroes of Tamil cinema. |
