You can trust Bala to bring tears to your eyes. But can you trust him all the same to make you roll on the floor with laughter? Well, we will know it very soon, by the end of this week. However, by the first look of it, Avan Ivan promises to be a comic caper. What with Vishal's very many get ups and all (one that of a transgender; narration of which, we hope, will not get Bala into gender sensitivity issues).

The comic drama Avan Ivan is the story of two men (presumably brothers, according to the story line made available in the public domain so far) and their travails with life, to be able to get by in this big bad world. Vishal plays the squint eyed Walter Vanangamudi with Arya (stripped of his raw charm and elegance, in a grubby attire not very different from his Naan Kadavul do) donning the role of Kumbidaren Saamy. Their lives and the lives that get entangled with theirs form the crux of the movie.

The movie has Janani Ayyar, Madhu Shalini, Ambika and Ananth Vaidyanathan with Suriya and Reemma Sen in cameo roles. Talking of which, Simran did a likeable cameo in Bala's Pithamagan for a medley-mash song. Avan Ivan's music is composed by the Bala regular Yuvan Shankar Raja and the movie has 5 tracks.

Produced and distributed by AGS, Avan Ivan has Arthur Wilson's cinematography and Suresh Urs's editing. The movie will be dubbed and released in Telugu as Vaadu Veedu.
