From the outside, Baana Kaathadi’s story might
sound like just another love story with bubbly looking
youngsters in the lead, peppy music and interesting
promos. But it’s only skin-deep, according to
director Badri Venkatesh since the movie delves into
the issues that a youngster will face lacking direction
from his parents – referential of the title,
Baana Kaathadi.
The movie is sort of coming together of the GenY,
second generation producers from Sathya jyothi films
Senthil Thyagarajan and Arun take the mantle, Yuvan
Shankar Raja scores music, while Atharva plays the
lead.
Samantha, who played the female lead in the Telugu
version of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, is cast opposite
Atharva. She also appeared in a cameo role in VTV.
Given her looks, this pretty little thing could give
the Trishas and Tamannahs a run for their money and
sleepless nights.
So Baana Kaathadi, with a supposedly relevant social
message, releases this weekend. With no big releases
this weekend and Endhiran a safe distance of atleast
a month away, this movie has potential to emerge as
a dark horse.
