Udhayanidhi Stalin's onscreen debut as hero has been in the making for a long time, about a little more than a year. This romantic comedy is directed by Rajesh, who reaped success with his Siva Manasula Sakthi and Boss Engira Baskaran. Oru Kal Oru Kannadi's trailers and songs have already become popular in the internet what with the witty one liners and the catchy songs that make the movie a comedy fare.

Udhayanidhi is paired alongside Hansika but more than their pairing, it's his pairing with Santhanam that will bring the theatres down - so to say. The comedy portions, released as teasers, have already gone viral in the cyberspace. Especially the one involving a preacher, who seems to mimic Nithyananda. On which, a Hindu spiritual organization has also recently filed a complaint stating that it hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.

Harris Jayaraj's music and Balasubramaniem's cinematography are said to be the other highlights of the movie. While Rajesh wanted the crew members of his previous movies to repeat in Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, it could not happen owing largely to date issues.

Releasing on the Tamil New Year weekend, Oru Kal Oru Kannadi will no doubt be a laugh riot going by the looks of it. And Rajesh's credentials vouch for it too. But will it also serve to be a successful launch pad for Udhayanidhi? That's worth watching out for.
