Agam
Puram an outright action film with Shaam
and Meenakshi playing the lead is directed
by Thirumalai. Hero Shaam has worked for
a complete changeover to break the romantic
image hovering around him in Tamil cinema.
Meenakshi, the glamour queen in Perumal
and Rajadi Raja, whose launch pad was Karuppusamy
Kuthagaidaarar shares the lead with Shaam. |

Actor Shaam himself has produced the film, to be simultaneously
released in Telugu as Gang War. Shaam is an honest man
but grows to be an industrialist involved in illegal
activities after something bitter strikes him in his
life. He is projected in three types of roles well feeding
his acting prowess, an honest young man unhappy with
the society; then someone who takes to drinking irked
by the society’s recklessness and finally an industrialist
dealing in illegal business.
Based on a real life incident, this movie, according
to the director, is sure to project Shaam in a totally
different manner. The crew carries a frightening experience
of being trapped on the high seas for three hours after
their cruise boat had an engine failure off Malaysia.
Director Thirumalai had earlier directed Karan in Thee
Nagar. Nadodigal fame Sundar. C. Babu has scored music
and his efforts have not gone in vain. Some numbers
seem to be doing a moderately good round.
Shaam is set to break the soft romantic hero image about
him and illustrate a new style or type. When it hits
the screen on 10 Dec 2010, it will be known if the team’s
persistence and Shaam’s dream of a new typecast
will create the real magic intended to, achieved by
crossing all rocky terrains from the launch to its release. |
