Kandahar, the trilingual
film directed by Major Ravi that features
Amitabh Bachchan, Mohan Lal along with Unnaipol
Oruvan star Ganesh Venkataraman is nearing
completion. Kandahar is a fictionalized
portrayal of the hijacking of IC-814 incident.
It is expected to be a high voltage action-drama.
Ganesh who plays a dashing commando and
Amitabh Bachchan’s son in the film is absolutely
thrilled with the outcome of the film. Sources
say that recently when Amitabh Bachchan
saw the rushes of the film he was very happy
with the result and had some very good things
to say about the young actor. He blogged
on his popular website about how happy he
was with the result.
Ganesh plays an ‘Angry young man’ like Mr
Bachchan played in his younger days. His
life changes when he meets Major Mahadevan
played by Mohanlal, who convinces him to
join the army and gives him a purpose in
life. The elaborate military training sequences
of Ganesh were shot in Indian Military Academy
(IMA) in Dehradun. Ganesh said that Major
Ravi gave him valuable inputs to train for
the commando role and has spared no end
in shooting the film in all realistic locations.
Kannada actress Ragini Dwivedi plays Ganesh’s
heroine in the film. When asked, Ganesh
said “My 3 favorite actors are Amitabh Bachchan,
Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal. And I am really
lucky to have worked with all of them. It
has indeed been a huge learning curve for
me just observing these great actors and
sharing screen space with them”.
Kandahar is expected to hit theatres in
December.
