Aamir Khan’s production
venture Dhobi Ghat, which is directed by
his wife Kiran Rao, ran into trouble with
Vinod Kumar Kanojia, President of the Hindustan
Kanojia Organization of Dhobis, filing a
petition at the Delhi High Court that the
title invokes class division.
The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice
Dipak Nisra and Justice Manmohan declared
the petition to be frivolous and dismissed
it. The judges also ordered the petitioner
to pay a fine of 25,000 and deposit the
same with the National Blind Relief Association.
Dhobi Ghat had a good response at the
recently concluded Toronto Film Festival
and is expected to be released in India
early next year.
