Sequels
to hit movies aren’t unheard of, but sequels
of superstar movies are quite uncommon, at least
in Tamil cinema. So when the industry is going
hush hush about a sequel to the smash hit Chandramukhi,
it’s natural that the news gathers attention.
And since it involved names like Rajini and
Ajith, we perked up our senses and got as much
information as we could. Here are the sequence
of events that led to the possible remake of
the movie.
During the shoots of Chandramukhi, Rajini talked
about a possible sequel to Vasu and even wanted
a ‘Thodarum’ title to be put at
the end of the movie (which didn’t happen
anyway).
The sequel eventually got made in Kannada, and
was called Aapta Rakshaka. It was the last movie
of Vishnu Vardhan.
When Rajini met Ajith at the temple Kumbabishekam
at Sivaji’s residence, he told him about
this possibility and that Ajith could star in
it.
Ajith requested Vasu for the sequel’s
print, watched it and fell in love with it.
He also promised that he would take this project
up after his commitments are over.
So if Laka Laka Laka was what Rajini used for
Chandramukhi, Ajith will use a different catch
phrase that Vasu has already created.
