Veteran film producer Dr. Daggubati Rama
Naidu has been awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke
award for his lifetime contribution to
Indian cinema.
The Dadasaheb Phalke award is given every
year to renowned film makers in India
who have spent their lifetime towards
the development of Indian Cinema. The
award, which is given by the Government
of India, will be given to Dr. Rama Naidu
for the year 2009 as he is an acclaimed
film producer across India.
Dr. Naidu, who started his career in 1963
with his first movie Anuragam, has produced
more than 130 films. He is also a Guinness
record holder for having produced many
movies in languages like Telugu, Tamil,
Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Gujarati and
Marathi. A respected filmmaker, Dr. Naidu
has given us classics like Raamudu Bheemudu
which starred N.T. Rama Rao, Sri Krishna
Tulabaram, Sangarshana amongst many.
Born on June 6, 1936, Dr. Rama Naidu is
a member of the Telugu Desam Party. He
also contested from Bapatla constituency
in Guntur district in the year 1999 and
held office till 2004.
He will receive the award at the National
Awards festival on October 10.
