At the 67th Venice Film
Festival, ace director Mani Ratnam was honored
with the Jaeger-LeCoultre 'Glory to the
Filmmaker Award'. The director fetched the
award for his remarkable contribution to
the Indian cinema. It may be noted that
the director is the first Indian to be awarded
this honor.
The director of Venice Film Festival,
Marco Muller said, “Mani Ratnam is one
of the greatest innovators in contemporary
Indian Cinema. He helped introduce the
auteur concept to contemporary Bollywood.
We are very proud to honor the work of
the great Indian director Mani Ratnam.”
Over 600 delegates from across the globe
gave standing ovation to the ace director
after Raavanan was screened.
Mani’s wife Suhasini and actor Vikram
also attended the Venice Film Festival.
