Kamal Haasan, in a recent
interview to a national daily, has said
that he frames all the letters written to
him by his mentor director K Balachander.
His office is full of those rare letters
framed neatly. The actor had reportedly
told that KB sir writes to him only when
he thinks that he deserves it and hence
he affectionately refers to those letters
as his degrees. KB’s first appreciation
letter to Kamal was in 1977 after he watched
his performance in 16 Vayadinile.
Recently, the director could not make
it to the felicitation function held for
Kamal by the Kerala Government. To make
up for it, KB had sent him a long letter
showering accolades.
