The jury of the Tamil Nadu state
government awards is at work deciding
the best of 2007 and 2008. It is
going to be quite a tough job considering
the quality of movies during that
period. But, the first award has
been decided and interestingly it
has gone to the person who can be
referred to as the First Citizen
of the state.
Yes, the jury has decided upon
the award for the Best Scriptwriter
and the recipient is Kalaignar M.
Karunanidhi for Uliyin Osai. If
you remember, Uliyin Osai starred
Vineeth and Keerthi Chawla. It was
a period subject which narrated
a story holding a message about
true love and commitment.
This is definitely a first in Indian
cinema, a Chief Minister receiving
an award. The CM might also possibly
the eldest person to be chosen for
the award. Goes to show that age
is just a number.
