Producer’s Council of Tamil
film industry met this morning to
discuss an important issue concerning
the releases of films. Whenever
there is a release of big bannered
or big star cast film, small budgeted
films suffer as they do not have
enough screens or sometimes no theatre
at all to screen their films. To
put an end to this problem, it was
decided that films with big banners
or directors or stars would be released
only on important days like Diwali,
Pongal, May Day, Tamil new Years
day etc. According to Rama Narayanan,
President of Producer’s Council,
this measure will help the small
budgeted films. On the other hand,
every Friday will see the release
of two such small films and one
dubbed film. This move has been
welcomed by many in the film fraternity
and it is hoped that this would
ease the pressure on small budgeted
films.
