National award for noted Tamil actresses

After much hassles and court cases, the 2006 National Awards will finally reach its recipients tomorrow (02-09-08). The best actress award, as announced earlier, goes to Priyamani, while the best actor award has been bagged by Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee. Puli Jenmam has been adjudged the best film.

The best entertainment film would be Lago Rage Munna Bhai.

The Dada Saheb Palkhe award for the year 2006 goes to director Tapan Sinha for which he will receive a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakhs and a golden lotus. Noted Tamil actress Saroja Devi, Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar and singer Lata Mangeshkar will be awarded the lifetime achievement award at the function.

A total of 53 awards will be conferred by the President of India Pratibha Patil in a function to be held in Delhi.
