Little did Anjali know when she was
on the sets of Thambi Vettothi Sundaram
in Kodai that the film crew may have to
face the wrath of a certain section of
people. As TVS is widely publicized to
be a real-life incident based on the life
of Vettothi Sundaram and his people in
Kanyakumari district, a large group of
people descended on the shooting spot
attacking the film’s director VC
Vadivudayan and his crew.
Anjali, who was at the shooting spot
during the attack, was rushed to safety
to a nearby place by the film’s
assistant directors. Recalling the incident,
Anjali said that violence could have been
sparked due to rumors that TVS is made
in an attempt to tarnish the image of
Vettothi Sundaram and his people.
The director, however, clarified that
he is making the film to explore the lifestyle
of the people in Kanyakumari.
