A
press meet, to mark the completion of shooting
for the upcoming movie Ilaignan, was held at
the shooting spot at Binny mills in Chennai
on Wednesday, October 20, 2010. The film has
Pa. Vijay as the hero and three other heroines.
Ilaignan is produced by S. Martin of SS Music.

The movie is based on a novel written by
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
He has also written the screenplay and the
dialogues for the movie. laignan is Karunanidhi's
75th movie where he has written the story,
screenplay or the dialogues.
The director of the movie is Suresh Krishna.
Interestingly, Ilaignan is his 50th movie
as director which is yet another milestone.
The shooting of Ilaignan was started in
April, 2010 and was concluded on October 20,
2010.
Lyricist Pa. Vijay is the Ilaignan in the
movie. This movie will be a surprise to fans,
as Vijay has broken the myth that lyricists
are soft characters. Vijay has done deadly
dangerous action stunts in the movie which
will make him as the next action hero.
Music of the movie has been scored by Vidhyasagar.
He has recorded a live symphony for this movie.
He has also travelled to London and Budapest
to record the music for the movie.
Namitha can be seen in a negative role in
the movie. Kushboo is acting as Pa. Vijay's
mother and Meera Jasmine and Ramya Nambeesan
are the other heroines in the movie.
A huge ship was erected for this movie.
So huge that it took 700 people working everyday
for 3 months in all to construct. The ship
plays key role in the movie as Vijay works
in a shipping company in the movie. The ship
is so gigantic that it can hold the weight
of 1000 persons.
The climax scene alone has been shot over
a span of 22 days.
The highlight of the movie would be Kalaignar
Karunanidhi's dialogues in English. Yes! Since
this movie shows Namitha as a British citizen,
the English dialogues were required.
It is being told that the movie has been
set in the backdrop of the year 1959 and nearly
1000 people worked tirelessly for the movie
every day. The CM has already seen the rushes
of the movie and is impressed with it. The
music of Ilaignan is expected to be released
in December.
