The
press meet of K. Bhagyaraj's next movie Siddu
Plus Two was held in Chennai on Tuesday. Siddu
Plus two has been in production for a while
and the press meet on Tuesday has evoked interest
again in Kollywood circles. Produced by Moser
Baer and KBR Medias Pvt. Ltd, Siddhu Plus
Two has Shanthnoo Bhagyaraj and Chandni in
lead roles. This will be Shanthnoo's second
film as a hero.
The movie is about Siddu, who finds it tough
to pass in his school exams. In spite of his
father (Rajesh) being the principal of the
school he studies in, he fails in subjects
every now and then. As matters become worse
when Siddu gets insulted in front of others,
he attempts suicide. Accidentally, he meets
Chandni, who, more or less, is in the same
situation as Siddu is. The two then become
friends, friendship becomes love and they
drop the idea of losing their lives. Does
Shanthnoo's love succeed with Chandni's family's
consent? Does he eventually pass in his exams?
This is Siddu Plus Two in short. The story
has a twist too, claims Bhagyaraj, who has
taken care of the screenplay, dialogues and
the direction of this movie. The story of
Siddu has been written by Krishna Da Vinci.
The 16 Vayathinile experience
Speaking on the occasion, K Bhagyaraj recalled
the tough times, this movie had to go through.
He said that he was very upset and frustrated
with the state of the movie. Remembering an
incident when he was an assistant director
for '16 Vayathinile', he said that the van
they were travelling, including director Bharathiraja,
was sliding down a huge and deep pit after
shooting. "Everyone was panicking but
I was asking the driver to apply the brake",
he said. Eventually the van stopped and we
managed to replace the wheel and its hub.
"But I was continuously worried about
the nuts which were not properly screwed to
the wheel. Everyone ignored this but I was
pretty sure that there was danger ahead".
When we stopped near a tea stall near AVM
studio, we saw the wheel of our van rolling
ahead of us. "Only then we realised that
the van's wheel was not properly fitted and
we all could have been in trouble if the wheel
had pulled off earlier", he added. Though
everyone was safe, we saw that one of our
other assistant directors was heavily bandaged
the next day. When enquired, he said that
the auto rickshaw he took to get home toppled
and he got injured. "Only then we joked
that trouble followed the assistant director
and not us", Bhagyaraj guffawed.
He also told that obstacles do happen but
it is luck which overturns obstacles. 16 Vayathinile
was more like an art film but with Bharathiraja's
touch and a bit of luck, the movie was a huge
success and I believe that Siddu will also
be a huge success.
Moments of the function
Three songs of the movie were shown to the
audience. A melody 'Poove Poove' was pleasing
to listen to. Another song which is a remix
of the hit 'Naan aalana Thaamarai....' was
also interesting.
The trailer of the movie was also screened.
People who watched it can say with confidence
that Shanthnoo looks every bit like his father.
It reminds us of Bhagyaraj's earlier hit movies
like Mouna Geethangal, Indru Poi Naalai Vaa
etc. Shanthnoo's get-up and mannerisms looked
very similar to his father. If 40% were imitations
of his father, 60% of his style suits today's
generation with urban clothes, accessories
etc all.
Siddu Plus Two will be released on 26th Movember.
Dharan has scored the music. Venkat Prabhu
and Yuvan Shankar Raja have also crooned in
Dharan's music. The function was attended
by members of the film crew, which includes
Rajesh, Ganja Karuppu and Shanthnoo, and other
celebrities like Poornima Bhagyaraj and Dhananjeyan
of Moser Baer.
