After being delayed due to censor
issues, Renigunta has finally overcome
all obstacles and will now hit the
screens next weekend, December 4.
Originally scheduled for this Friday
(Nov. 27), the film could not make
it to screens because the censor
board refused to pass the film reportedly
due to the amount of violence in
the movie. The makers took the film
to Mumbai to sort out the issue
and it is now learnt that it has
been passed with an A certificate.
Renigunta, director by newcomer
Paneerselvam tells the story of
five youngsters who escape from
juvenile prison and get stuck in
Renigunta during their attempts
to make it to Mumbai. It can be
considered fortuitous that the film
itself had to go to Mumbai to get
itself cleared. According to the
director, the film looks into the
psyche of young men who have turned
to crime and explores what goes
on inside their minds and makes
efforts to show us that even they
have finer emotions like love, friendship
and ambitions. The theme and its
treatment have already generated
positive vibrations in Kollywood.
The film stars a host of new faces.
