Why does Kamal want Vikram?

Remaking of old films is a tightrope walking. As the content has already been conveyed in a particular fashion, the expectations of the audience also are on the high and the bars are certainly set at a higher position. Some remakes achieve spectacular success while some don’t. As per the latest buzz in Kollywood, Ulaga Nayagan Kamal is said to be toying with the idea of remaking an old film.

But this time around it will not be any Bollywood or Hollywood flick, but Kamal wants to remake Vikram, one of the sci-fi / fantasy movies of eighties. The movie was a result of Kamal's collaboration with the late talented sci-fi writer Sujatha. It starred Dimple Kapadia, Lizzie, and Ambika in the lead with hit songs and an interesting premise. With the technology having been improved by leaps and bounds, Vikram would make an exciting remake.
