The
Kuselan failure and the wounds suffered
are far from being healed completely.
In fact, the ramifications of the
giant debacle might soon be affecting
new movies that are awaiting release.
We had earlier reported that theater
owners from Coimbatore, North Arcot
and Trichy had come up in arms against
the producers and distributors of
Kuselan stating that the promised compensation
package was yet to reach them. A meeting to
decide further course of action was held in
Chennai where it has been declared that the
exhibitors would not cooperate with any new
releases of Pyramid Saimira or Kavithalaya.
The films that are awaiting release immediately
and are expected to be affected by this announcement
are Naan Kadavul and Thiruvannamalai. Naan
Kadavul is a Pyramid Saimira production which
has been sold outright to Zee TV. Yet, the
exhibitors are not willing to cooperate with
the movie which has already been hugely delayed
due to various reasons. Also, such a non-cooperation
decision might seriously affect Pyramid Saimira
which is already wallowing in crisis after
Kuselan and the global economic crunch. Meanwhile,
Kavithalaya too has its share of worries with
Perarasu’s Arjun starrer Thiruvannamalai
very likely to face opposition.
