Arjun amidst huge applause. The occasion
was dotted with some interesting anecdotes.
Music for the film is composed by Sai Thaman
who was one of the 'Boys' discovered by
director Shankar. Songs of the film were
rendered by the singers (on stage) who had
sung the same in the film. Each number was
different and the speakers who spoke on
the occasion said that the songs are sure
to be chartbusters.
When Venkat Prabhu spoke, he said that
Thaman was the first choice for Premji's
character in Chennai-28 and he used to play
drums in their band. He adds, "Our
performance used to bring the roof down.
After one of our performance, a newspaper
has reported the picture of only Thaman
and all that I can say was 'enna kodumai
sir idu'. Anyway, when I wanted to cast
him Chennai-28, he was on his way to UK
with Mani Sharma and that's how Premji came
into the picture". Further on, Venkat
Prabhu wished the new music composer all
luck and success.
When Arjun got up to speak, he had some
interesting information to share about Rajashekhar,
the producer of the film. He says, "One
day when I was casually flipping the channel,
a dance movement in a Kannada film caught
my attention. When I enquired I came to
know about Rajashekar and then I brought
him in as dance choreographer for Chengottai.
He is such a hard working person who works
without expecting anything." He also
said that this producer cum director cum
choreographer is sure to reap success.
A heavy garland with six feet height was
adorned on Arjun without any support along
with a flower crown and the poor actor had
to pose with it for quite some time. The
burden indeed was very heavy.
