The Grande
finale of Vijay TV’s Jodi No.1 will
air as a two part series on May 31st and June
7th at 8pm. In the first part featuring the
four finalists, they danced to some never
before heard or seen international themes
such as Broadway show tunes, Chinese folk,
Egyptian sufi music and African jungle rhythms.
The finale will feature larger than life sets.
“The speciality of these sets”,
Vijay TV informed Behindwoods, “is that
the entire set up varies for each of the jodis
as they perform to varied themes this week.
“
The four couples, Dinesh-Haritha, Kiran-Priya,
Paandi-Poornima and Sivakarthikeyan-Aishwarya
have begun preparing for the final competition,
and are confident of dazzling the audience
with their new moves and grooves. Dinesh/Haritha
sizzled in the Broadway Jazz theme that seemed
like a re-enactment of those grand musicals
of Broadway. The play of lights accented their
scintillating Salsa dance. Mesmerized by their
performance, the judges – S.J.Suryah,
Sundaram Master and Sangeetha expressed their
praise.
The next pair, Kiran/Priya, came clad in
Chinese attire, with dragons, swords and
Chinese icons as the backdrop. The couple
will perform to a unique Chinese theme.
The Chinese form of dance has its own unique
vocabulary, semantics, and syntactic structure
that enable a dancer on stage to fully express
her thoughts and feelings with ease and
grace. This pair, also, won accolades from
the judges with their exemplary performance.
The third finalists, the Paandi/Poornima
pair, performed to an Egyptian theme. With
the Sphinx as the backdrop for the Egyptian
theme, this couple rocked to ‘Eshabba’
song from the film Karna -their performance
was highly appreciated by the judges.
The last performance of the grand finale,
Sivakarthikeyan/Ishwarya, danced to a unique
‘African jungle’ theme. Thick
trees and a tribal set-up, this couple gave
a splendid and gripping performance for
an excellent number from ‘Aalavandhan
– Africa kaatu puli’. The Jodis
looked perfect and highly confident and
were constantly cheered by their friends
and well-wishers after every performance.
The next part, which will air on June 7,
will be the freestyle round in which they
can perform any style of dance. The judges
score on both rounds will determine who
will win the title of Vijay Jodi No.1 and
which couple will take home the prize money
of Rs.5 lakhs. So, don’t forget to
tune into Garnier Fructis’ Vijay Jodi
No.1 on Friday- Saturday May 30th - 31st,
and June 7th at 8pm for the finale of finales.
