Trouble brews up in the Directors’ Association

The much-expected Directors’ Association elections, scheduled to be held on May 11th, was postponed after director Velmurugan was roughed up by some miscreants, said to be an actor’s supporters, on the eve of elections at the venue. It may be recalled that director R.C. Sakthi, a few days ago, alleged that he was threatened by director Bharathiraja to pull out from the elections.

Another notable development was the formation of a new group “Naalaya Iyakunargal Ani” a party formed by assistant directors. Later, directors Bharathiraja and K. Balachander conducted a meeting at a wedding hall in Vadapalani amidst tight police security. Bharathiraja said that they would seek the help of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dr. M. Karunanidhi in sorting out this issue. The date of elections and future course of action will be announced later, reports sources. With internal politics and violence playing spoilsport, the elections now remain postponed.
