Ramkumar, son of late Sivaji Ganesan, went down the memory lane while talking about the digitized version of his father’s epic film Karnan. He recalled that he was about 8 years and was studying at Bangalore while the shooting for the film was going on in Bangalore Palace in the Cantonment area.
Ramkumar recalled an interesting incident about his father. He reminisced, “Karnan was the first film to be shot in the Bangalore Palace and the Maharaja, Sri Jayachamaraja Udayar was keen to have tea with my father. The meeting was to happen at about 4.30 pm and my father had sent word that he wants some time to remove the makeup. The Maharaja sent a message saying that he did not want to have tea with Sivaji Ganesan. Instead he wanted to have tea with Karnan and asked my father to meet him without removing the makeup.” And needless to say, the Maharaja ensured that when Sivaji met him in full makeup and costume, the Karnan was served tea and snacks in gold cups and plates.
