We have heard of male superstars and about
the strong roles they get. We have seen heroines
wasted in films and we have also seen them
all playing strong roles. But have you heard
of a ‘female superstar’ who is
known for her action films and is on par with
her male co-stars? We present to you, the
female superstar Vijayashanthi.
• Vijayashanthi became very popular
as an action heroine with her 2001 Telugu
film Vyjayanthi where she played a police
officer. This film was also dubbed into Tamil
as Vyjayanthi IPS and it brought her a huge
fan following in Tamil Nadu too. She proved
that women could do action too and be par
with the heroes.
• She later went on to do several strong
roles in Tamil cinema. She played a gritty
business woman in Mannan with Rajinikanth,
a cop in the film Rajasthan alongside Sarath
Kumar, a lawyer in the Ramki film Thadayam
and much more.
• She was crowned the Female Superstar
of South Indian cinema and her popularity
soared and she never resorted to mother or
sister roles.
Sneha’s Bhavani IPS is releasing tomorrow.
It is said to be inspired from Vjyanathi IPS
and Sneha is to have gone an extra mile to
perform well in the role. Will the film strike
