Honorary Lieutenant Colonel to the superstar!

Actor Mohanlal will be conferred the honorary Lieutenant Colonel title by the Indian Government. According to the sources close to the Malayalam film industry, the Defense Minister A.K. Anthony has already given his assent but the final word from the President of India and the Prime Minister is awaited.

The honorary Lieutenant Colonel title will be awarded to Mohanlal by the Defense Ministry for portraying the army in a good light and encouraging the youth to

enroll in the army through his films. Mohanlal had also publicly stated that he wished to join the army. Mohanlal’s film Kurukshetra and Kirthi Chakra among others were based on the army. This also played a pivotal in bringing him closer to the title.

However, Mohanlal will not be the first to get this distinction because cricketer Kapil Dev was also honored with an honorary Lieutenant Colonel title a few years ago.
