Silk Smitha’s film goes to revising committee

Censor board has refused permission for a film which was made 12 years back with Silk Smitha as the heroine. This film titled Thanga Thamarai directed by Thirupathi Raja was the last project of Smitha before her death. Now the director has revived the film and sent to censor board after re-shooting and re-editing with a plan to release. However the

censor board has declined to certify the film. When the matter was probed, it was divulged that the censor board opined that the theme of the film is very regressive and not in tune with the present times. They also felt that if the film was released it might trigger some kind of commotion among people. But according to director Thirupathi Raja, the film deals with the love of an upper caste woman with a lower caste boy and their trials and tribulations in life. He was also quick to point out that names of any caste are not mentioned in the film and there is no reason for any apprehension or fear. Hence he has sent the film to revising committee and is waiting for the results.
