The budget of the 2005 super hit Ghajini
had overshot a lot. Though the movie was
a hit, the producer Salem Chandrashekar
said he had undergone some losses. To compensate,
Murgadoss had agreed to make one more movie
for the producer. Recently, though, Chandrashekar
alleged that the director had reneged on
his promise and neither had he taken his
permission to remake the movie in Hindi.
Frustrated, he had lodged a complaint with
the police and had Murgadoss arrested.
As he was being escorted by the police to
Salem, they were stopped on the way at Chengelpet
by a call from a higher-up police official
who asked that the director be returned
to the K K nagar police station in Chennai.
Murgadoss was released. The police have
requested the producer and the director
to settle their dispute in a producer or
director’s council and not make it
a legal issue. |
