Raavanan (Tamil) and Raavan
(Hindi), directed by Mani Ratnam, will have
a restricted release in Karnataka. According
to the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce
president Vasant Kumar Patil, the decision
is based on the present policy of exhibiting
non-Kannada films only in a fixed number of
theatres.
Based on this decision, the movie will
be released in just 24 theatres in the old
Mysore distribution area, which is one of
Karnataka’s three distribution areas.
The producers’ contention to treat
both Raavanan and Raavan as two different
films was not heeded to by the KFCC.
