blast onto their target audiences and what
a month we are about to have, and things
don’t end with June, the flow does
not seem to stop till Diwali.
First up we have Sarkar Raj hitting theaters
this Friday. Ramgopal Verma quite wisely
held up his sequel till the IPL was over
and done with. The film does look the turbulent
sort that the first part of the series was
and knowing what the movie is going to look
and feel like it would not be wise to expect
fireworks at the box office. After all,
intense political dramas are not the most
popular of genres.
Then, there is the king of all releases-
Dasavatharam. Now, we don’t want to
talk too much about it and spoil the fun.
It will be great and you have got to enjoy
it in theaters. Then, in the early days
of July, two debutants with very strong
backing will face off on the same Friday.
Harman Baweja, son of big producer Harry
Baweja in Love Strory 2050 and Aamir Khan’s
nephew Imran Khan with Jaane Tu Ya Jaane
Na. Both are completely different in look
and feel even though they are basically
love stories and this might help them easily
coexist at the box office. There is also
the action adventure Hijack that is lined
up.
Follow that up in August with the Salman
Khan, Amitabh starrer comedy God Tussi Great
Ho in which the Big B reportedly plays God
(like Morgan Freeman in Bruce Almighty or
Prakash Raj in Arai en…). There is
also the big budget action flick Mission
Istanbul that is ready to hit theaters in
August.
Then come the real biggies. Abhishek Bachchan’s
Drona, Sanjay Gandhvi’s (Dhoom fame)
Kidnap and Aamir Khan’s Ghajini that
are all set for a simultaneous release on
October 2. Common sense and wisdom suggest
that this three pronged clash may not materialize
but you never know with Bollywood.
