Jeyam Ravi, beginning his note with apologies
for arriving late, said that he was scared
to talk with some of the great people in
Kollywood around, especially Kamal Haasan.
He also revealed an interesting piece of
news that he was an assistant director for
Kamal-starrer Aalavandan. Recalling his
experiences as an assistant director, the
actor said that he would hide himself whenever
Kamal was present on the sets. Speaking
about Mani Ratnam’s simplicity, Ravi
added that he used to be a snob during his
earlier days as hero but changed his attitude
on seeing the director’s behavior
even after achieving so much in life.
Mani Ratnam’s speech was, however,
as short and crisp as his dialogues. The
director ended his speech with: “When
Kannan invited me for this film’s
pooja I attended it; when he invited me
for the trailer and audio release I am here;
I will also be there for this film’s
silver jubilee function.”
Kamal Haasan, reacting to Sarath Kumar’s
statement that Thygarajan is a very strict
producer, thanked God that he did not ever
get to see that side of his personality.
Recalling his experiences with Thyagarajan
while acting in Moonram Pirai, Kamal said
that they would all go jogging together.
He added that Thyagarajan would only choose
the best in the industry for his projects.
The actor turned nostalgic when he said
that he enjoyed working with Balu Mahendra,
as the working atmosphere would be very
cheerful. The star, in his speech, thanked
everyone for wishing him for the Dasavatharam
release. Talking about director Kannan and
his film, Kamal said that he must be busy
with the final cutting work and added that
Jayamkondaan has come out very well. It
was evident from Kamal’s speech that
the film’s cameraman, Balasubramaniam,
is very close to him. The star did not lose
the opportunity to commend him for doing
a wonderful job.
After all these elaborate speeches, it is
quite evident that the director is a very
talented person. All that needs to substantiate
this is the film itself. We are waiting
for it!
