CM's consent to Prashanth

After what seemed to be a hibernation phase, Prashanth is back in the scene with his Ponnar Shankar. A formal announcement was made in this regard at the Prashanth Gold Towers in the city today. Ponnar Shankar was penned by Chief Minister Karunanidhi during the sixties and is based on the life of two legendary warriors called Ponnar and Shankar.

Legend has it that Ponnar and Shankar were two valiant warriors centuries ago who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the Kongumandalam (now Coimbatore district).A memorial for the duo exists in the Coimbatore district and they are considered sacred: on par with other Hindu gods in the region. Many folk songs written on them also prevail in the district

Addressing the press, Prashanth expressed his heartfelt thanks to the CM for providing the rights of the book to be filmed.
