Ponniyin Selvan, the epic novel by Kalki is one of the most beloved pieces in Tamil lierature. Earlier there were reports that Mani Ratnam intended to make Ponniyin Selvan for the big screen with a massive star cast. Unfortunately, the project failed to take off. Now Selvaraghvan, who is currently in Georgia, shooting for Irandam Ulagam has updated in his micro-blogging site that he is game for doing a film on Ponniyin Selvan.
When asked if he was up to this difficult task, Selva replied with confidence in twitter, "Yes. I can make Ponniyin Selvan. Bring it on." The director also presented his wish list for the cast. Vandiyathevan, would be played by Jiiva, Kundavai, the Chozha Princess by Kajal Agarwal, Aditha Karikalan, the ill - fated heir to the throne by Arya, Raja Raja Chozhan by Vikram, and the devastatingly beautiful and deadly Nandini Devi by Nayanthara.
Online media was swift enough to start speculating. Seeing a variety of stories building up Selva tweeted, "Ponniyin Selvan is just a dream. Casting is just an idea. But it is not my next or anything."
It will truly be groundbreaking cinema, if Selva can manage to pull it off.
