Anjali's next film is Karungali with director Kalanjiyam who is also playing the hero. She plays a housewife in this movie and even gained weight to look convincing for the part. There is another female character in this film which is a powerful one and on whom the plot turns.
The part was offered to leading actresses like Sneha, Meera Jasmine, and Bhumika but they all turned it down. Finally Sunitha Varma stepped in. She is very pleased because she says the character is a performance - oriented one and is a great opportunity for her. Kalanjiyam is also happy with the way things panned out.
