Kalavani, directed by Sarkunam, erstwhile
assistant of Vijay of Kireedom fame, is
making waves in Kollywood industry with
rave reviews. The film which was released
soon after Mani Ratnam's much-hyped "Raavanan"
has attracted audiences across all centres
and has proved to be a success in the box
office.
When asked to compare himself with Mani
Ratnam in a recent interview, director Sarkunam
was in his humble self, declared himself
as a newcomer said, “Mani sir is like
my guru and please do not compare me with
him”. He further added that Mani Ratnam
is the "icon" of Indian cinema.
Incidentally Mani Ratnam was present at
the audio release of the film.
