Kalaignar rejects Captain, laps up Rajini!

Although Kalaignar TV won the satellite rights of Arasangam hands down from the producers, looks like the channel has altered its strategy over buying movie rights. It has recently rejected an offer to buy Engal Aasan from the producers – another Vijayakanth movie.

Reason for this could be attributed

to the box office performance of Arasangam. While the movie received decent reviews, Pyramid Saimira, the distributors, lost 5 crores in the transaction since it only earned 3 crores at the ticket counters. Thus, it is evident that screening a movie in the tube that hasn’t fared any better in the big screen is after all not a good idea.

Interestingly, Kalaignar TV has acquired the satellite telecast rights for Kuselan at an undisclosed whopping sum recently from the producers.
