Pixar's new masterpiece, WALL-E, has been
declared a 2008 summer hit. It debuted at
the U.S. box office at 62.5 million, making
it the studio's ninth No.1 top opener. Angelia
Jolie's sexy thriller, Wanted, opened at 51.1
million, making it Jolie's biggest box office
opening, shooting past her 50.3 million Mr
& Mrs. Smith opening three years ago.
Wanted is based on a violent graphic novel.
Mike Myers' The Love Guru has flopped, dropping
down to 5.4 million.
Prequel, not a sequel
The 2007 blockbuster 300 will have a sequel
– rather a prequel. The project began
as a graphic novel by Frank Miller, but
now Miller will script it for the screen.
300's original director, Zack Snyder, will
probably make the follow-up, just as soon
as he finishes up with his current project,
Watchmen, another graphic novel movie adaptation.
Top secret shooting

Salvation: The Future Begins, is underway
in New Mexico, shooting under top secret
