All film shoots scheduled to happen today have been cancelled. The reason is that the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) has called for an emergency meeting. The issue under discussion will be the question of payment for film employees. The pay revision takes place once in three years and the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) have put forward their demands.
The issue came to a head when FEFSI announced what they consider as appropriate for a minimum wage. The TFPC has said that pay revision is decided only after a discussion between both sides. An emergency meeting has therefore been called and it is to be hoped that both sides reach a decision that is mutually beneficial.
