THURSDAY TRIVIA : THE TUNIES!
Jan 20, 2011

What was seen as novelty once has become a trend these days! We are talking about movie names which are taken from popular hit songs. It is quite amazing to look at the swelling of this number in the recent past. Let us look at a few of such movies and the songs from which the names are based.

> Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa

One of the most talked about movies in 2010, VTV is the biggest name in this category. Though it was a classic Tamil phrase, we couldn't help but think of the evergreen song 'Vennilave Vennilave....vinnaithaandi varuvaayaa', sung by Hariharan in the movie Minsara Kanavu.

> Chikku Bukku

The recent movie which had Arya and Shriya also bears its name from a very popular song. Though the title can be justified with the theme of the movie, would you ever forget the song 'chikku bukku chikku bukku rayile.....' from the movie Gentleman?

> Pachaikili Muthucharam

It is Gautham Menon again. This time with Pachaikili Muthucharam. Again a fantastic Tamil name but derived from the yesteryear classic song 'Pachaikili Muthucharam...' sung by TM Soundarajan for MGR in Ulagam Sutrum Valaiban.

> Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai

Vishal's antics in the movie justified the title for the movie. Fans of Rajini and Netrikkan movie, in general, would not forget SPB's song with the same title.

> Themerkku Paruvakatru

One of the last releases of 2010, Themerkku Paruvakatru's name is similar to AR Rahman's brilliant song in Karuthamma which captured many hearts.

If you think the list ends here, you are wrong. How about Mundhinam Parthene, Solli Tharava, Kumari Pennin Ullathile, Azhagana Ponnuthaan, Adatha Aatam Ellam? Want more?
