Aayirathil Oruvan has stumbled
into yet another roadblock. At a
time when all the movie buffs are
eagerly awaiting the release of
the film for Pongal, the news about
the stay order, procured by Salem
Chandrasekar, who had produced Ghajini,
has come as a dampener.
According to the plaintiff Chandrasekar,
he had given Rs. 2 crores to director
Selvaraghavan for directing the
film Kasimedu in the year 2004.
However, Selvaraghavan failed to
commence the project and eventually
moved on to AO. On a complaint to
the Producers’ Council in
2006, Selvaraghavan and AO Producer
Raveendran were ordered to return
the amount. While a part of the
amount has been returned, the duo
had said that the remaining will
be returned at the time of the film’s
release.
With the impending release, Chandrasekar
has sought a stay order on AO release
until he gets his due back. The
court has stayed the release on
AO till January 20th. An out of
court settlement is being worked
out by both the parties. |
