Engal Asan could be out of Pongal race

The Vijayakanth starrer Engal Asan seems to be in deep trouble with the Metro Audios' Kaja Moihdeen and Seventh Channel's Manickam Narayanan filing a petition in the High Court seeking a stay in the release of the film. According the petitioners the film's producer Thangaraj had borrowed several lakhs of rupees from them to complete the film, but

failed to return the amount even after a number of reminders. On hearing the petition, the Judge ordered the defendant to file a counter on or before January 21st.

The case is posted for hearing on the same date. With the Pongal releases scheduled for this week, it seems near to impossible for Egnal Asan to make it on time.
