How Kollywood celebrated New Year

Apart from the glittering audio release of Naan Kadavul, three other events were held on New Year's Day.

Ten senior PROs were given gold coins in recognition of their contribution and service to the film industry. Rama Narayanan and Radha Ravi were the prominent personalities present at the function.

The first meeting of the Director's association after the recently concluded elections was also held on New Year's Day. Almost all major directors of Kollywood attended the event where newly elected president Bharathiraja set out his plan for 2009 and director A.R. Murugadoss was felicitated for the huge success of the Hindi Ghajini.

V4 Entertainment had an awards function where 100 film personalities were recognized for their work. S.S Rajendran and Vaijanthimala Bali were given the Lifetime Achievement Award. Other awardees were Prakash Raj, Cheran, 'Jayam' Ravi, Vivek, Kovai Sarala, Mysskin, Dhananjeyan of Moser Baer, director Sasi, Ajmal, Prabhu, Srikanth, Saranya and Film News Anandan.
