This has
restarted the trend among filmmakers, which
was in fact lost in the 1970s and 1980s
when famous novels by noted writers like
Jayakanthan were made as movies.
Another director to enter this bandwagon
is Gandhi Krishna who is adapting a novel
by writer Sujatha. He revealed that this
story, which was published as a serial in
the Tamil weekly Aanatha Vikatan titled
Pirivom Santhippom tingled his curiosity
so much that it gave him sleepless nights
till the next episode was out. This has
inspired him to adapt it for his film Aanantha
Thandavam. Gandhi, while speaking on the
title said, he intended to use the same
title but as it was already registered by
Karu. Pazhaniappan he was left with no other
option but call it Anantha Thandavam, which
he feels is appropriate. Refusing to divulge
more information about the film, the director,
however, said that he could vouch that is
a full-fledged romantic movie that is bound
to pluck the heart strings of the audiences,
as it is about Love, an universal emotion,
which has come out very well in the film.
He praised the performances of Tamanna,
who plays the female lead, and the lead
actor, debutant Siddharth, whom he says
is bound to go places after the film is
released. The director even cites a reason
for choosing a debutant for the lead role
as he feels that the character, called Raghu,
is so strong that it will remain etched
in the minds of audiences for a long time
and any known face might come with baggage
that would mask the original character.
In these times of violent movies a feel
good romantic will be a welcome change.
