Sivaji brings loss to distributors

Sivaji, the Rajnikanth starrer is gearing up for silver jubilee celebration when a new controversy has sprung up in the form of a few dissatisfied distributors. Just before the release of the film, the distribution rights were given to eight distributors across Tamil Nadu, out of which three of them have reported losses and they want Rajni’s intervention to set right their losses.

C Prakash, one of the distributors who took care of Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal and Krishnagiri districts had this to say, “Before knowing anything about the film, we came forward to distribute it for five crores. But the producer settled for 5.5 crores and drew up the agreement accordingly. They first asked us to give 5 crores and give the remaining 50 lakhs by cheque and assured us that they would take care in case of any eventuality. Going by their words, we agreed and released the film in thirty three screens across Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal and Krishnagiri districts. But we were able to recover only 4.30 crores and had informed this to A V M. Unfortunately we have not heard from them and hence we request super star Rajnikanth to interfere in this matter and help us.”
