Old woman knocked down – shooting stopped

Director Cheran busy completing his acting assignments is caught in another controversy. Only recently, while shooting for Raman Thediya Seethai being directed by Jeganji of Kodambakkam fame, did the film’s crew get itself into trouble over using a car that had the same registration number as that of the district collector.

The director and producer were summoned to the local police station near Bhoothapandi village where the shooting was taking place. This issue was sorted out amicably as the crew claimed it was sheer coincidence.

Before this incident could fade from people’s minds, another one has cropped up. This time, at the same location, when a shot which involved a minister to pass through the village with his convoy was being canned, the entire village had gathered to witness the shooting and one amongst them was Kutraalamal, an elderly woman. When the cavalcade was passing through the village, one of the jeeps which were a part of the procession knocked Kutraalamal who was standing alongside the road. She was immediately admitted to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The local inspector has registered a case against the driver of the jeep and the director. Shooting has been temporarily stopped; meanwhile Cheran who was a witness to the incident was seen immersed in grief after the demise of the villager and has requested the producer to duly compensate them.
