This young
actor was spotted at the audio release function
of the film Moondram Pournami starring debutant
Ram and Preethi Verma. Deva has composed
the music for this film.
The audio launch was very entertaining with
interesting speeches delivered by the guests.
Jeyam Ravi, speaking at the function, said
that movies should be categorized as small
and big based only on their success and
not on their budget, if that was considered
as a criterion for discrimination then they
should be called small budget films and
big budget films. This was his take on a
comment that small films are finding it
difficult to make it amongst big ones and
that small films should also be encouraged.
This had the audience break into a loud
applause, as it was a very mature comment
from a young actor. Later, when director
Balachander took to the stage he had a word
of praise for Jeyam Ravi for enlightening
him on this aspect as he, like many others,
had over time started mentioning small budget
films as small films and that it was not
the right thing to do. In fact, midway through
the speech, the word small films almost
slipped out of KB’s mouth but he corrected
it and gestured towards Ravi, which literally
brought the house down. In all it was an
entertaining evening for those at the function.
Ravi towards the end of the function sought
the blessings of KB. A legendary director
accepting a mistake in the presence of a
gathering and even acknowledging it! That’s
humility personified.
